High School Track and Field Coaches Poll: April Edition

Now that we're roughly a month into the 2017 outdoor track and field season in the Dakotas, it's time to check in with the coaches in the biggest classes in North and South Dakota to find out who they think will be atop the state track meet team podium at the end of the season. We rolled out the Midco Sports Network High School Track and Field Coaches Poll for the first time last spring, with the inaugural vote in April and the second just before the state meets in May, and the coaches proved to be pretty accurate with their choices, correctly placing the eventual state champion in every class except the North Dakota A Girls, a title race that ended up being decided by just three points.

As far as the poll's format, we added up the votes from the head coaches across each state to determine our Top 5 for each class, with a first-place vote worth five points, a second-place vote worth four, and so on. The teams with the most points earned the top spot and subsequent spots on down, and as you'll see, last year's champions are still the favorites in three of the four classes...

Without further adieu, here's the first Midco Sports Network High School Track and Field Coaches Poll of 2017!
