ND Baseball/Softball Power Rankings

CLASS A BASEBALL:

How good has West Fargo been lately? Really good! Get this...over their last 8 games, the Packers have allowed only 7 runs and have produced four shutouts. Those numbers are unreal. Dickinson drops to 2 after splitting with Minot. Midgets senior Kendall Jones tossed a one-hitter in game one of that doubleheader. Century stays at 3. North and Minot round out my top five. The Magicians split with Dickinson and Century last week, but need to find some consistency. Sheyenne is on the outside looking in after suffering four straight losses.

  1. West Fargo
  2. Dickinson
  3. Bismarck Century
  4. Fargo North
  5. Minot

CLASS B BASEBALL:

We’ve been waiting for Thompson to play some more games to see if the defending champs are still the real deal. The answer is yes, they are. The Tommies took down a good Hillsboro-Central Valley team with a late rally last Thursday and also blew out MayPort-C-G 10-0 on Friday. They’re 4-0 and don’t look like they’ll be giving up that top spot anytime soon. Kindred-Richland sticks at two after a couple of close victories over rival Central Cass. There are no changes in this top five because nobody on the list has lost. The Vikings will be challenged by Northern Cass and Central Cass early next week. Those will be some games to keep an eye on, along with #4 Grafton visiting #3 Park River-Fordville-Lankin on Tuesday.

  1. Thompson
  2. Kindred-Richland
  3. Park River-Fordville-Lankin
  4. Grafton
  5. Des Lacs-Burlington

CLASS A SOFTBALL:

#1 West Fargo jumped the border this past week and played four Minnesota teams, winning just once. But, one of those losses was to defending Class 4A MN champ Chanhassen, by the slimmest of margins, 1-0. So, I'm not penalizing them for playing that top out of state competition. Dickinson split a pair of series, but the Midgets stay in 2nd. I bump Century up to 3 after splitting with the Midgets and sweeping Williston. Legacy is in for the first time after splitting with both Dickinson and Minot. The Sabres have earned their spot, now it’s up to them to hold onto it.

  1. West Fargo
  2. Dickinson
  3. Bismarck Century
  4. WF Sheyenne
  5. Bismarck Legacy

CLASS B SOFTBALL:

The top five remains the same. #1 Kindred-Richland had a nice 9-0 win over #5 Grafton on Friday. The Spoilers actually lost twice, dropping their record to 2-2, but those two losses were to Central Cass and Kindred-Richland. So, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and keep them in my power rankings. But, Watford City, Thompson, Northern Cass among others are lurking on the bubble to try to crack next week’s power rankings….that is if it stops snowing and we can actually get some games in (sigh).

  1. Kindred-Richland
  2. Central Cass
  3. Des Lacs-Burlington
  4. Hillsboro-Central Valley
  5. Grafton

Let me know what you think the top five should be in the class(es) you follow the most! Thanks for reading and if you want to reach out to me my email is Jody.Norstedt@midco.com
