Like almost everything else this calendar year, the 2020 HyVee-Sanford Legends for Kids program – a staple of the summer schedule in Sioux Falls for the last 21 years – will look a little different this time around.

But even though the Legends for Kids youth sports camps, clinics, in-person banquet and auction may be off the table this year, the spirit of the event and its mission won’t be compromised by a global pandemic.

The banquet and subsequent live and silent auctions – with proceeds benefitting local youth sports organizations – will take place on Facebook Live at 7 PM on August 6, 2020 and will feature local NFL^® stars Carson Wentz and Dallas Goedert, as well as three-time Stanley Cup champion Matt Cullen.

Matt and fellow Minnesota hockey great Gigi Marvin are both members of the Sanford Sports team and have led hockey clinics at Legends for Kids in recent years. Both took time ahead of next month’s event to sit down with me via Zoom to catch up on what’s happening in their lives and what’s coming next when life begins to return to normal in the months ahead.
