UND Takes on Minnesota in Rivalry Weekend on Midco Sports™

November 16, 2021 – Grand Forks, ND: Thanksgiving leftovers and hockey from the Ralph Englestad Arena on Midco Sports - it doesn’t get any better! On November 26 and 27, college hockey’s greatest rivalry returns, as the University of North Dakota will host the University of Minnesota in a non-conference clash between storied programs.

“It’s going to be an outstanding weekend of hockey between our partners at UND and the Gophers,” said VP of Midco Sports Mark Powell. “Along with airing the games on Midco Sports, the rivalry matchup can be seen on Comcast and Mediacom. From Grand Forks to the Twin Cities and throughout Midco’s footprint, adrenaline will be high as fans root on the Fighting Hawks and Gophers.”

“Our athletics department is excited that several parties have come together to provide linear television coverage in the Minneapolis area for this series between North Dakota and Minnesota. Our fans in that area can now watch the weekend rivalry. Thanks to Midco Sports for initiating,” said UND Associate Athletic Director Kyle Doperalski.

The series over Thanksgiving weekend will mark the 290th and 291st meetings all-time between these two decorated men’s hockey programs. Eight-time national champion North Dakota has won two consecutive NCHC regular season titles, while five-time national champion Minnesota was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the Big Ten. Both reached the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight in 2020-21, and each are ranked in the top ten in the latest national NCAA Division I men’s hockey polls.

Coverage of the two-game set from Grand Forks begins at 6:45 p.m. on Midco Sports on Friday, November 26, and continues Saturday, November 27, at 5:45 p.m. Both games can be seen on Midco Sports channel 32 in SD and channel 622 in HD. The games can be seen in the Twin Cities area on Comcast channel 999 and Mediacom channel MC22.
