ND HS Baseball/Softball Power Rankings

CLASS A BASEBALL:

Dickinson continues to look like the most dominant team in the state. The Midgets swept Mandan on Tuesday to move to 9-1 on the year. West Fargo split with Davies, but the Packers allowed just two runs in the game 2 loss. In fact, the Packers have only allowed 6 runs over their last 6 games against North Dakota opponents. Century swept a doubleheader with Williston last Thursday, but the Coyotes gave them some trouble. I’ve kept Fargo North on the bubble since the start of the season, but I don’t know how I can keep them out now. The Spartans are 7-3 and a perfect 6-0 against in-state opponents (1-3 vs Sioux Falls teams). Matt Pietsch and Cameron Blazek are leading the way for the veteran Spartans. Bismarck can make some noise this week with a matchup against Dickinson on Thursday (Apr. 20th).

  1. Dickinson
  2. West Fargo
  3. Bismarck Century
  4. WF Sheyenne
  5. Fargo North

CLASS B BASEBALL:

After playing only two games so far this season, #1 Thompson is scheduled to play 6 games in 9 days.  We’ll know more about our top-ranked team by this time next week. Kindred-Richland slides in at #2. I did a neat story on 3 of the Vikings players playing a doubleheader and competing in a track meet on the same day this past week for Varsity Sports. The Vikings top three starting pitchers have been outstanding, so far: Ethan Lingen (11 IP, 3 H, 0 ER), Brandon Hoyme (11 IP, 6 H, 1 ER), and Brandon Roesler (18.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER). The new addition to the top five is Des Lacs-Burlington. The Lakers are 7-0 and have outscored opponents by a combined margin of 56-6.

  1. Thompson
  2. Kindred-Richland
  3. Park River-Fordville-Lankin
  4. Grafton
  5. Des Lacs-Burlington

CLASS A SOFTBALL:

There is no shakeup in the Class A softball power rankings this week. Dickinson and Century split a doubleheader on Tuesday. But, I’m going to keep them right where they are for now with Minot right in the middle of them at 3. Legacy has an opportunity to crack the top five next week with a pair of doubleheaders against Dickinson and Minot this week. I’m looking forward to seeing how those games shake out.

  1. West Fargo
  2. Dickinson
  3. Minot 9-1
  4. Bismarck Century
  5. WF Sheyenne

CLASS B SOFTBALL:

I got an up-close look at Kindred-Richland on Thursday when I was out there shooting the track-baseball-softball trifecta. The Vikings downed Enderlin-Maple Valley 12-2. The defending state champs have defeated two teams that are still in this top five poll (Hillsboro-CV & Central Cass), so they’ve solidified their spot. Speaking of the Squirrels they move back to that 2-spot after a pair of dominant performances. Their showdown with #5 Grafton on Thursday (Apr. 20th) should be a doozy.

  1. Kindred-Richland
  2. Central Cass
  3. Des Lacs-Burlington
  4. Hillsboro-Central Valley
  5. Grafton
