Podcast: Jacked Up for Jacks Football with Dan Jackson

Dan Jackson does it all for the South Dakota State University football team: Assistant Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, Defensive Backs Coach – and Recruiting Coordinator. MidcoSN’s Tom Nieman sits down with Jackson on our latest podcast.

This season, Jackson will take on even more responsibility with the departure of former Offensive Coordinator Eric Eidsness and former Defensive Coordinator Clint Brown.

Jackson is the man who recruited former Jackrabbit defensive back Jordan Brown who is now in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. In our interview, Jackson says Brown set the mold for the current crop of big, physical cornerbacks at SDSU.

The Jacks will have plenty of experience back on defense in 2019 except for the defensive backfield.  Jackson gives us a glimpse of who will step in at the safety and corner spots.

SDSU has four weeks of practice before the season opener at Minnesota and Jackson gives some insight into what the Jacks are trying to accomplish in the 30 days of fall camp before taking on the Gophers.

Plus, when Jackson came to Brookings seven years ago there was “hope” and “talk” of the Jackrabbits winning the FCS national championship. Now, the Jacks are legitimate title contenders year after year – and a “ship” is the top goal again in 2019 for South Dakota State.
