North Dakota versus North Dakota State.

It was once the greatest DII college football rivalry in the country before going on hiatus for over a decade, but after years in the wilderness, it appears to be back for good.

This Saturday afternoon in Fargo, the two programs will square off for just the second time since 2003, marking the start of a new era of the rivalry now that UND’s transition to the Missouri Valley Football Conference is nearly complete.

While the game itself should be one to remember, there’s always been more to this matchup than X’s and O’s, a fact not lost on our NDSU insider Brian Shawn and I.
